Week 3 brief

The Giants beat Tennessee 12–7 on Sunday without scoring a touchdown. Dominic Zvada kicked all twelve points on four field goals, and the defense did the rest: the Titans didn't score until 5:35 was left in the game, and Jevon Holland picked off Cam Ward for his second interception in two weeks. Arvell Reese led everyone with 13 tackles. With Jaxson Dart on injured reserve (knee), Jameis Winston went 14/22 for 118, so New York leaned on the ground: 33 carries for 138 yards, 20 of them to Cam Skattebo, and 34:26 of possession. It followed a 28–6 loss at the Rams on Monday night of Week 2, when Matthew Stafford threw four touchdowns and Davante Adams caught 8 for 195. The worry this week: Brian Burns hurt his knee against Tennessee and is getting an MRI.

The Bills are 3–0 after a 24–16 win over the Chargers that they tried hard to give away: five turnovers, two Josh Allen interceptions and three lost fumbles. They won it on the ground. James Cook ran 24 times for 154, Allen scored twice from the 1, and Buffalo took the game with two fourth-quarter touchdowns, Allen at 7:35 and Cook at 3:13. Greg Rousseau had 2 sacks and 4 tackles for loss. The week before, they beat Detroit 41–31 on Thursday night: 9 of 12 on third down, 5 for 5 in the red zone, and 203 rushing yards, with Cook going for 135 and Allen for 69 and two scores.

The split so far: Buffalo has scored 101 points in three games, and the Giants have scored 46. The Bills have found a run game since Week 1 (86 yards, then 203, then 176). The Giants haven't scored a touchdown since Week 1: six field goals in two games and 0 for 4 in the red zone. Buffalo can win a shootout; New York is winning with its defense.
